Short Story Overview

The short story revolves around Mr. and Mrs. White and their Herbert. 

A family friend, Sergeant-Major Morris, who served the British Armed forces in India, visits them for dinner and introduces the family to a preserved mummified monkey’s Paw.

 The special thing about the Paw is that An old fakir put a spell on it to grant it secret power to make three wishes come true but only with destructive consequences as punishment for interfering with nature. 

Morris, having had a terrible experience using the Paw, throws it into the fire. 

Mr. White, not believing Morris’s words, recovers it to use its power. 

Before departing, Morris warns Mr. White of what might happen should he use the Paw.
