Walter and Ruth Younger, their son Travis, Walter’s mother Lena, and his younger sister Beneatha live in poverty in a miserable bedroom apartment on Chicago’s Southern Side.

Walter is struggling hard to sustain a living as a limousine driver.

Though his wife, Ruth, is satisfied with their condition, Walter is not and severely wishes to become rich.

He plans for investment in a liquor store in partnership with his friends Willy and Bobo.
