The year 2009 saw the publication of Chetan Bhagat‘s book 2 States: The Story of My Marriage. It tells the tale of a couple from two different Indian states who struggle to get their parents to approve of their union. After quitting his job as an investment banker, Bhagat published this book.

Novel Description

This novel, 2 States: The Story of My Marriage is based on my own life; only the names have been altered. The couple in the narrative, Krish and Ananya, are incredibly in love and want to be married. They are from the Indian states of Punjab and Tamil Nadu, respectively.

It is humorously told in the first person and frequently makes fun of both Tamil and Punjabi traditions.

The narrative opens in the mess hall of IIM Ahmedabad, when Krish, a Punjabi student from Delhi, notices a lovely girl named Ananya who is arguing with the mess workers about the food. Ananya is a Tamilian from Chennai.

The “Best female of the fresher batch” title was given to Ananya. In a short period of time, they become friends.
